The Branch CPD training pilot is intended to help IHBC branches access a range of model training days in specialist practice areas, sourced from a pool of quality-assured, nationally expert consultant-partners. The IHBC aims to deliver local, accessible, low-cost CPD to national standards in priority areas, which will be developed specifically to work within the organisational capacity and needs of local volunteers, branches and delegates.
The pilot includes accessible training in priority practice areas, offering local practitioners – both IHBC members and non-members as branches determine – a one day, in-person or hybrid, seminar (c.5 hours, including networking) of CPD from a lead expert in an aspect of conservation practice recognised for its CPD priorities and needs.
Branches will be responsible for liaising with the lead expert regarding the structure and content of the day, as well as booking venues, refreshments and publicising the event. They will also keep any profits from the event*. Meanwhile, the IHBC will fund the speaker costs (including reasonable accommodation and travel costs), and can offer support with locating suitable venues and publicising the event. All attendees will receive a CPD certificate.
Whilst speakers have been identified for the CPD priority areas listed below, in the interest of ensuring training is low-cost and local, branches are able to put forward alternative lead experts to deliver the topics below, especially where they are located more locally to the branch region and are able to deliver the required training as per the requirements in the pilot brief. If your Branch is planning on delivering training as part of this project with an alternative speaker, please contact Anna at training@ihbc.org.uk to discuss further.
